intro dusk side projEKT
dusk till dawn motion graph i found out that dusk till dawn was looking for an intro because they have started filming there nights so i said to the manager there i would put something together, it basically just involves the righting which is on fire within the actual text fading in and eventually exploding and then the name of the club night taking its place. I want to get this done relatively quickly as its only done for free and hopefully once i send it there wont be to late.
discontinued video intro
yeah so i started a video intro but had to stop it because of a disagreement with a promoter and another artist who made it impossible for me to follow the brand so F**K you i will blog about it.
Starting point thoughts for third year…… typography/information technology
I thought i would start looking at different examples over the summer of what I would like to do for my third year and have found something that looks brilliant and right along the lines that I would consider myself.
Why I want to do my third year
Why I want to do my third year
I’ve thought a lot about why I want to do my third year and which direction I would like to take. I feel that from all that I’ve learnt on my two year foundation degree is the third year would give me the opportunity to study an area which I am more interested in and believe would help me in the future and that is 3d graphics. I want to study this not just because of the satisfaction you get from creating something visually appealing but because I feel that it would be the most useful and applicable in a working environment. This is because the professional skills developed in the third year would give me clear guidance and more transferable skills in software’s that can be used in many different areas in the creative industry.
I would like to advance my skills in after effects and typography because they will be incredibly helpful skills in the industry that I enjoy doing and will be appealing to an employer/client. For my specialist project, I want to incorporate all elements of effects and other programs for post production, mainly looking at areas of work that I haven’t focused on before, whether it’s been planning or the post-production itself. My aim is to create something that I can be happy about putting my name on and start of my portfolio with.
In addition to these things I have really enjoyed the course so far and felt that I have met some interesting people and learnt a lot of new skills. Also with the experiences that I have had in my first and second years I am still eager to learn more about the digital world and hopefully be given a truly in depth insight in the third year and the digitally working world. I hope that in my third year I will get to meet many more industry professionals and get to hear and learn what they have to say also the opportunity to work with some of these people would be brilliant and get the chance to build up my name as a reliable, helpful and creative digital media ‘professional’.
In order to help me develop my career path when the course is over, I want to travel to make myself more aware of the world around me. Creative digital imagery is influenced by culture and setting and I am keen to develop my appreciation of different cultural imagery internationally. Through doing this I believe I will become more appreciative of the ideas that others have and hopefully get to experience a variety of cultures and get round to seeing some interesting digital media related things along the way. So the plan that I have for my third year is to extend my skills in post production and editing and create a portfolio that I will be proud of and employers will find interesting and innovative.
video professional project development
I have started a motion graphic introduction for the video for packed house using after effects and particles which works really well I’m working on the 3d text at the moment and think I will use the same text that’s on the website (www.packed-house.co.uk)
After messing around with a few different design ideas I feel like I have found one which I can comftorbly show to my client I will upload later on today.
Processes :)
i have always been interested in drums i dont know why the kick the snare all these noises have always been delightful for me to hear so im going to incorporate some into the project know for this to work i have had to learn some basic max msp which to be fair was alot harder than i was expecting. I have been experimenting with different games console pads also and have been pretty successful with the ps3 controller and i am seriously considering using this for the rest of my project as the staple backbone as it has motion sensing technology (not the best) but being able to incorporate the motion sensing into my laptop to effect audio in someway would be a serious breakthrough!!
What i now feel that will be possible for me is to set up my ps3 controller to control sounds on logic pro by having a utility software called gamepad companion that i downloaded that commands the hot keys that i have reset on logic pro (this process was incredibly tricky for some reason as the process of changing the hot keys on logic 7 changed when converting to logic 8 which was thoroughly confusing.
After getting past the hot key functions it occurred to me that logic may not be the best software to use……(for functionality!) so i thought if i could find other dj software that would enable me to use some hot keys to make the ps3 pad an efficient midi control. A problem i found when using virtual dj was that the hot keys on the software were slightly limited leaving me with fairly little in the way of functionality for my pad.
An idea that i was thinking about now developing is creating a game pad band by having different game controllers that will be connected to one laptop which will be controlling different instruments this is a concept that i do not think has been attempted before i am not sure how many inputs can be used for one laptop as one software that i am mainly using at the moment can only run one pad but another software i am using still can control the same pad in the background this leaves me thinking that i may be able to control different sounds effects with different remotes (pads) using different softwares.
